Today a good friend brought it to my attention that in the great state of California, adventurers can surf and ski in the same day. As a girl native to the Northwest, the thought of this blew my mind and I decided that I needed to experience this dream day before kicking the bucket. However, something felt like it was missing, and after further consideration I decided to add my own third leg to the triathlon: sailing. As an enthusiast for this sport and someone with uncontrollable wanderlust, I really don’t think anything could top this trifecta. I see myself waking up and hitting the slopes first. In the afternoon, I’d head to the beach and trade in my snow gear for a wetsuit, then climb aboard my personal vessel in search of hidden swells. It would be like Anne Marie Chadwick meets Jacques Cousteau.

I encourage anyone reading this to plan something extravagant, something self-indulgent that will allow you to take advantage of the world around you and the opportunities present in life. A lifetime is beginning to feel way too short, and I for one do not want to see my bucket list gathering dust. The only thing I need to do now is learn how to surf.
