It is clear that UCLA is always ready for a close-up. From its beautiful architecture to its breathtaking landscape, there are plenty of things about our campus that make it camera-worthy. This, along with its location in West Los Angles, has attracted many A-listers and film crews over the years. The UCLA campus has been featured in over 200 TV shows and movies since its founding, including a few of my personal favorites…
- Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1997 TV series)
- CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (Miami and Las Vegas)
- 90210: Sorry, Naomi, it seems that Bruin Walk is prone to more annoyances than just high- foot traffic and ruthless flyering.
- Gilmore Girls. It seems that Harvard has been filmed more at UCLA than in Cambridge, and I will now be spending much more time on the steps outside of the Powell Library now that I know Rory Gilmore has graced them with her presence.
- Beverly Hills, 90210 (Especially the episode “Seventh Year Itch”)
- 7th Heaven (1996)
- The Graduate (1967)
- Water For Elephants (UCLA was filmed as Cornell University)
- House Bunny: filmed outside of Royce Hall
- Legally Blonde: last but certainly not least, Legally Blonde featured a number of UCLA classrooms, hallways, sorority row, and of course, the Janss Steps.
Thank you UCLA for lighting up the big-screen. Your beauty does not go unnoticed because you are always ready for your close-up.
